There can only be one number one MBA in the world. To the dismay of many talented applicants, the top five Business Schools will only accept those who can demonstrate outstanding business acumen. It is unsurprising, therefore, that nowadays; the majority of students make a strategic decision to apply to Business Schools which have a great potential to become the world's best ranked MBA. A MBA is an investment, and, especially in times of widespread unemployment and financial crisis, students prefer that a MBA is affordable in the short term, while still maintaining academic value in the future.

The Rising Stars is the MBA Ranking of, which in 2013 was acquired by Springest and integrated into The ranking consist of the top thirty five business schools which made significant steps in recent years. Which Business School will rise? Which Business Schools will outperform their peers? The ranking of 2012 is based on noteworthy improvements, current data and plans of the future.

Some data which is used by established rankings is also used for the Rising Stars. But there are also many assessment variables which are unique to our ranking system. These include the forum activity of students, internet activity among MBA students, the consideration the political climate, long term investments of business schools and their strategic choices. critiques Business Schools from a students' perspective. Therefore, considerations such as campus and amount of students are less important than improvements and developments which enhance the student experience. We questioned many established variables: Working experience is valued highly, is that good or bad? If students do not have that much working experience, they might have more time to profit from their MBA and have more time after the MBA to become a true leader and as a result indirectly boost their MBA? What is the perfect men/women percentage? Does a school need to have 60% or 90% international students? Could a school lose its identity with too many international students? These are all questions which are subjective, but are nevertheless often used in the traditional rankings.

As in previous years, we received many applications than expected, and from these, came the difficult task of selecting the top thirty most promising Business Schools. aims to grow every year with the addition of 5-10 Business Schools for consideration.

We hereby congratulate the Grenoble Graduate School of Business with the highest rank on the Rising Stars 2012.

1. Grenoble Graduate School of Business

Grenoble Ecole de Management (GEM) is one of the top business schools. GEM delivers approximately 50 programs spanning from undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate through to executive education. The school is accredited by EQUIS, AACSB, and AMBA and is a member of France’s prestigious Conférence des Grandes Ecoles consortium. The School is highly international, providing a dynamic and vibrant environment to study in: 134 different nationalities are represented. The Grenoble MBA is highly applied in content, delivered by a team that brings together academic specialists together with managers and consultants from a wide range of sectors.

2. University of Cincinnati, Carl H. Lindner College of Business

4. Porto Business School, University of Porto

Porto Business School (PBS) is part of the University of Porto. Its unique governance structure involves top business leaders and 26 large corporations, ensuring a practical approach to management teaching. PBS is rapidly building its international image, striving to become one of the most reputed European business schools, with impressive achievements in recent times and state-of-the-art new facilities expected to be inaugurated in 2013. The full-time MBA, the Magellan MBA, is currently the most diverse and international of all accredited MBA programmes in Portugal.

5. IE Business School

The IE Business School is recognized as one of the leading global institutions in its field. Its urban campus in Madrid provides a stimulating learning environment for a multicultural population which hails from eighty-eight countries across the world. The school's faculty boasts four hundred professors, who teach at Masters, PhD, and executive education level.

In Fall 2012, the International MBA Program relocated to a new building with state of the art facilities. 6. The University of Texas at Dallas, Naveen Jindal School of Management

8. University of South Florida, St. Petersburg, College of Business

The University of South Florida, St Petersburg's College of Business deserves its rank on the Rising Stars 2012. The slogan of the University says enough: "Opening minds, expanding opportunities." With a new College of Business building, online offerings taught by the same faculty as traditional courses, new scholarships for students (including emphasis on global education scholarships), and GMAT preparation courses offered to prospective students for free or minimal fee, the University is on the right track.

9. International University of Japan, Graduate School of International Management

The Graduate School of International Management (GSIM) was started in 1988 in collaboration with the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth College, USA, becoming the first U.S.- style business school in Japan. With the aim of developing global business leaders for the future, the programs are built upon an English-based curriculum which focuses on the comparative analysis of global issues from a Japan-Asia perspective, while also adhering to the high standards set for a global MBA education. Through this unique approach, the GSIM has established itself as a leading graduate business school in Japan and Asia Pacific.

10. HHL Graduate School of Management

HHL is a university-level institution and ranks amongst the leading international business schools. The goal of the oldest business school in German-speaking Europe is to educate effective, responsible and entrepreneurially-minded leaders. The proportion of international students in this HHL program is approximately seventy percent. 19. Corvinus University of Budapest, School of Management

The EFMD accredited Full-time program of the Corvinus University of Budapest is progressing a lot. In recent years, these developments have included the introduction of career development services (with post-graduation career tracking), lectures from international visiting professors, and the implementation of a written entry exam. The school is also pioneering experimental teaching methodologies (such as interdisciplinary project work). 20. Universita de Pisa, Business School

In the past years, the Business School of Universita de Pisa showed course improvements, building improvements, and the program became much more international, attracting a much more diverse student body. The Othman Yeop Abdullah Graduate School of Business (OYAGSB) focuses on "Relevant, Responsive, and Responsible. “ The continuous improvement of the program is aided by a close partnership with the industry. The business school is introducing a more rigorous MBA experience starting February 2012 semester based on extensive case studies on teaching and learning, including joint research and development of local case studies with the industry. With the recent establishment of a sustainability and community development center, and close partnership with relevant government agencies and industry player to address sustainability issues, the Business School shows that it is not closing its eyes for one of the important issues in the world. 22. The Cyprus Institute of Marketing, Cyprus Business School

The Cyprus Institute of Marketing (CIM) has been operating in Nicosia since 1978 and in Limassol since 1984. 28. The University of Texas at El Paso, College of Business Administration

KIMEP University was founded by a resolution of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, on January 14, 1992. 33. PSG Institute of Management

A pioneer in imparting quality education and training at all levels for the past several decades, PSGIM have been offering the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program since 1951. To be a graduate of IPAG is to master English, the language of business, and to have received a diploma from one of the partner institutions. 35. University of Otago

Why would go to New Zealand (apart from the people and the nature)? Because of the University of Otago! The University of Otago, founded in 1869 by an ordinance of the Otago Provincial Council, is New Zealand's oldest university. The University of Otago has provided its MBA program for over 35 years. The University offers a new menu of sixty-seven elective courses across seven subject areas for the second phase of the MBA. The University will also open new student gym facilities in 2012.
