Our curriculum provides the core knowledge and skills required to successfully manage organizations, while enhancing each individual’s decision-making capabilities.
The Mitchell MBA Program is fully accredited by AACSB International - the highest level of business accreditation worldwide. We have structured the program to accommodate the needs of full-time career professionals and managers. The two classes each term will meet two evenings per week, the first from 6:00 – 7:15 and the second from 7:30 – 8:45.

The two classes each term will meet two evenings per week, the first from 6:00 – 7:15 and the second from 7:30 – 8:45.
Each new class of MBA students begins together in the Fall, allowing for a sense of camaraderie and unity. In addition, since each class of MBA students maintains cohesion, invaluable study groups can easily be formed and maintained throughout the program.
Admission Requirements for the MBA
A student who has a bachelor’s degree with less than 3.0 but
greater than a 2.5 (A=4.0) or a minimum grade-point average of 2.75
on the last 64 semester hours of college work may attain
Provisional Admission provided the student has a satisfactory GMAT
score based on one of the following formulas:
200 x GPA + GMAT = 1050 or
200 x UDGPA (last 64 hours) + GMAT = 1100
In addition, all applicants must achieve a minimum GMAT score of 450 and a GMAT Analytical Writing score of 3.0 or higher. The GMAT requirements may be waived for any applicant with an earned Master's degree or above from a regionally accredited U.S. institution of higher education.
The GMAT must have been taken in the last five years.
International students must submit documentary evidence showing TOEFL test scores of 525 or above or its equivalent.
The non-degree category is reserved exclusively for students with an MBA Degree Students in this category must obtain permission of the Director of Graduate Studies before registering for any graduate courses in the Mitchell College of Business.
Requirements for Regular Standing
Provisional Admission student will qualify for Regular Standing
upon completion of a minimum of nine semester hours taken for
graduate credit (500 level) toward degree requirements provided at
least a “B” average is maintained in all such work attempted.
In addition, at least a “B” average is required for all work taken as a graduate student. If the student has not met these requirements upon completing 15 semester hours of graduate credit (500 level) for degree requirements, the student will be dismissed from the MBA program.
Academic Regulations
The following regulations apply to all graduate students and
encompass all work taken as a graduate student including all
graduate degree courses (core, elective, concentration, business
and accounting).
Students must earn a “B” average overall. In addition a “B” average must be earned in the graduate degree courses.
Courses taken outside the Mitchell College of Business that are not an approved part of the degree program will not be included in the computation of the grade-point average.
Transfer Credit
A maximum of nine (9) semester hours of graduate credit earned in
another institution may be considered for credit toward the Masters
of Accounting (MACC) degree. A maximum of fourteen (14) semester
hours of graduate credit earned in another institution may be
considered for credit toward the Masters of Business Administration
(MBA) degree. Transfer credit is approved only after completion of
a minimum of nine (9) semester hours of graduate credit (500 level)
toward degree requirements at the University of South Alabama and
the student has qualified for Regular Standing. Only grades of “A”
or “B” may be accepted as transfer credit. Transfer credits are not
used in the calculation for the grade-point average.
Time Limitation
All requirements for a graduate degree must be completed within
seven (7) calendar years from the date of matriculation as a
graduate student.
Degree Requirements
MBA students must satisfactorily complete fourteen (14) three
semester-hour graduate courses. Students seeking the Master of
Accounting degree must complete ten (10) three semester-hour
graduate accounting and business courses.
