The Duke MBA: One World-class Degree

When you decide to invest in an MBA, make no mistake about it — the brand of the program matters. It is not by chance that Duke is continually ranked among the world's best. We are committed to academic excellence and relevance, and offer the same core MBA experience in all of our programs, to help improve your career development opportunities.

Career-Friendly Format

In today's uncertain economy, it may be comforting to know that you don't have to leave your job to get a top MBA. The Cross Continent program is an excellent option for individuals with 3 years minimum work experience and high-potential talent to get the best of both worlds — valuable on-the-job work experience and an MBA from a top business school — at the same time.

Live and Work Anywhere in the World

Earn your MBA from anywhere in the world. The Cross Continent program is delivered across the globe in short immersive residencies followed by longer distance learning periods that afford you the luxury of living and working anywhere you choose. Plus, if you're on the fast-track at your company, you won't have to choose between completing your studies or taking that promotion across the country, or on the other side of the world!

Show Immediate Impact at Work

You earn your MBA while working, allowing you to make an immediate impact by applying what you learn in the classroom to your job. Not only do you have the opportunity to build work experience while going to school, but the work experience and opportunities you gain will be better because of it.

Achieve Global Competence

No other MBA program offers you the ability to truly build global business competence. The Cross Continent program is the only MBA that takes place in 5 of the most important economic regions of the world, and has a curriculum specifically tailored to explore global markets, regulations, and business institutions.

Build a Global Network

As a student, you will become part of a rich, culturally-diverse class from across the world — your classmates will become your friends and inspiration throughout your MBA experience. You will also have immediate access to Fuqua's impressive network of more than 17,000 alumni.  Your network extends beyond your class and the Fuqua alumni community. A friend of Fuqua is a friend of yours, and we have some pretty impressive friends — individuals and companies committed to helping Duke (and you) succeed.

Be Part of Important Change

Leading firms have grappled with multi-disciplinary, global business challenges for years, yet business schools have largely not prepared leaders to deal with the complexities of today's business environment. At Fuqua, we've moved on from the status quo and are committed to educating globally sophisticated leaders who are equipped to handle global responsibilities. Wouldn't it be rewarding to be part of this ground-breaking change and graduate from the program that innovated business school?

Experiential Learning

While in-region and interacting with classmates across the globe, you will learn about different cultures, markets, and institutions, while experiencing them at the same time. Cross-cultural communication is part of the subject matter and the situation itself, which will better prepare you for international responsibilities.

No. 1 Ranked Faculty

Bloomberg Businessweek magazine recently ranked Fuqua No.1 in the US for intellectual capital, a proxy for our faculty quality. Regardless of the program, all Fuqua students learn from the same impressive faculty who study the world's most relevant problems. This knowledge transfers into the classroom, enhances your learning experience, and prepares you to make more valuable contributions at work.

Career Services

As a student, you will have the opportunity to learn career management skills that will prepare you for a lifetime of professional success. Fuqua's Career Management Center (CMC) provides the resources and tools that will guide your career development. Additionally, CMC staff will host both live and virtual career workshops and coaching sessions. Learn more about career services.

Our admissions committee considers a number of factors when evaluating an application. These factors are taken into consideration from a holistic perspective. We are looking for students who we believe will be successful in the program and who will add significant value to the program through their professional and academic experience. The application components provide the applicant an opportunity to demonstrate they are a good fit for the program.

Work Experience
We require a minimum of 3 years post-undergraduate, full-time work experience for the program. Use the application to articulate the value of your work experience as it relates to contributing to the learning environment, and how your work experience has helped you develop leadership and teamwork skills, as well as maturity, on both professional and personal levels.

GMAT
We admit applicants with a range of GMAT scores. There is no minimum requirement. However, if you feel that you have not scored your personal best or that the results are not representative of your ability, you may re-take the exam (before you submit your application). It may take three weeks for official scores to be sent to the school.

Past Academic Performance
We admit applications with a range of GPAs. We do not favor a particular undergraduate degree, and students come from a wide range of academic backgrounds.

Recommendations
Your letters of recommendation are important because they provide valuable, independent information about your capabilities. One letter must come from your current supervisor. If you are self-employed, please speak with your admissions counselor to determine how to fulfill this requirement

Essays
Essays are an opportunity to share your perspective directly with the admissions committee. The goal of the essays is to gain a greater understanding of why you want to pursue an MBA, and what you will bring to Duke, in addition to the experiences you have had that shape your unique perspective.

Interview
The interview provides an opportunity for our admissions committee to get to know you better. It's also a chance for you to provide a more personal explanation of your background and interests, as well as a chance to have your questions answered in a one-on-one setting.

Each applicant is expected to submit a completed application package to The Duke MBA Office of Admissions. The admissions committee will only review complete application packages, which must include the following items:

  • Completed and submitted online application, including 2 essays
  • Non-refundable application fee of $225 USD (see if you qualify for anapplication fee reduction or waiver)
  • Current resume/CV
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Official transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate coursework, in English (download the Transcript Request Form). If original transcripts are not in English, they must be translated and certified by an official translation service Additionally, please upload only scanned official transcripts.
  • Official GMAT scores
  • Official results from the TOEFL, PTE, or IELTS exam for applicants whose native language is not English
  • Letter from your current employer outlining your company's support of time and/or financial commitment. Proprietors or principals of a company can provide a letter of self-sponsorship. View a sample letter of support.
  • Completed interview (visit the Interviews and Open Houses page for details)
