Because The Richmond MBA is designed to meet the needs of working professionals, all applicants are expected to have at least two years of relevant work experience after completion of their bachelor’s degree before applying.
Applicants must hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and meet current standards for both undergraduate grade point average (GPA) and Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) score. In recent years, the average GMAT score for incoming students has been approximately 620 and the average GPA has been approximately 3.3. Please note that we have two application deadlines:
(1) Applicants who wish to begin classes in August 2013 must submit a completed application packet by May 13, 2013. Decision letters will be mailed by May 20.
(2) Applicants who wish to begin classes in January 2014 must submit a completed application packet by November 25, 2013. Decision letters will be mailed by December 6.
Please note: Those admitted in either January or August will attend the Opening Residency scheduled for August 16-25, 2013.
MBA classes are offered in the evenings (Monday - Thursday), 6:30 - 9:10pm during spring and fall semesters. Summer classes are typically held on a Monday/Thursday schedule.
Application Process
Applicants must meet the specified admission requirements to be eligible for admission to The Richmond MBA. However, meeting these requirements does not ensure acceptance. In order to be considered for admission, a prospective student must provide the following:
- A completed application form. The form may be obtained from the MBA office or downloaded from the Internet. Click here to view the document.
- A non-refundable $50 application fee.
- Official transcripts of all college and university work attempted from each college and university attended. Transcripts must be sent directly from the undergraduate institution to the MBA office.
- Official GMAT score report. The GMAT score must not be more than five years old and must meet current admissions standards. Information about the GMAT may be obtained on the Internet at www.mba.com.
- A current resume.
INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS: (It is advised that international applicants contact the MBA office to discuss application requirements)
In addition to the above documents, the following is required:
- An official TOEFL score report with a score of at least 600 on the paper based test, 250 on the computer based test or 100 on the internet based test.
- An evaluation of your undergraduate diploma and transcript by Global Credential Evaluatorsif your degree was obtained outside of the U.S. (www.gceus.com). It is necessary to request a course-by-course evaluation and a calculated GPA. (An applicant whose prior experience in higher education includes work taken at a non-United States college/university is required to have the academic record evaluated by an independent credentials evaluation service)
- Completed Certification of Finances form with official bank certification and I-20 authorization form: http://international.richmond.edu/students/prepare/immigration/f1-grad.html. Submit the I-20 Authorization Form and the Certificate of Finances Form to the MBA office.
Official documents verifying college and university work and test scores must be sent from the institution or agency directly to the MBA Office.
