Why a dual degree in pastoral studies and business administration?

A dual master's degree in pastoral studies and business administration is ideal for students interested in church and diocesan positions, non-profit organizations and agencies, or Catholic or other faith-based health-care facilities; it is particularly valuable for business leaders who want to integrate Christian spirituality into their work life and remain alert to the significance of faith for employees and customers.

The dual Master of Business Administration and Master of Pastoral Studies degrees offered by the Loyola University New Orleans Institute for Ministry and College of Business is in keeping with Loyola’s mission and responds to important trends. Like other Jesuit colleges and universities, Loyola early on emphasized the link between business and ethics. Elsewhere in the academy and in the business world more broadly, there is growing recognition of this topic, of environmental sustainability and corporate responsibility. Indeed, more and more scholars in the field are devoting books and articles, such as those in the Journal of Management, Spirituality and Religion, to these themes. The intersection of business and pastoral studies provides a foundation to respond to a world in need.
