Professional Online MBA students may complete the program in one of two tracks:

The Master of Business Administration at NC State emphasizes technology management. Students take an integrated core curriculum, focusing on technology, business processes, and practical applications in a collaborative learning environment. Throughout the program there will be an emphasis on communication skills, networking, negotiations, team skills, ethics, and social responsibility.
All students take core courses related to technology, including operations and managing people in a high-tech environment. Even courses in traditional management subjects, such as economics and marketing, include case studies and projects with a technology slant. We do this because many of our students are technology workers seeking careers and promotions within high-tech companies.
The program challenges students to actively participate and interact with faculty, peers, and their business communities. Our professors often use case discussions so that their students must confront real business problems and practice the art of business communication. During the program for specific classes, students will work in teams of group of four to five peers with whom they tackle assignments, class projects, and outside study. This team engagement helps students build relationships and exposes them to more experiences and perspectives than they might have when studying alone.
The NC State Jenkins Professional Online MBA program is taught using mainly asynchronous methods with some synchronous methods. This means that you can complete the course requirements at a time and location convenient to you, within the deadlines set by each professor. Teaching methods will include podcasts linked with PowerPoint, tools such as Moodle and Blackboard Collaborate, streaming video files, and discussion boards. Face-to-face instruction will be used for the 3 day mandatory Raleigh Residency and the optional International Residency. More information about the Raleigh Residency can be found on our Residency website.
The Jenkins Professional Online MBA program is currently accepting applications for the Fall 2013 admission cycle.
Admission to the MBA program is highly competitive. You must demonstrate the following personal accomplishments and attributes:
- Strong intellectual performance and academic promise, evidenced by previous undergraduate and graduate work as well as GMAT or GRE scores
- An employment history demonstrating management potential through full-time work, volunteer, or military experiences
- Leadership skills, maturity, creativity, initiative and teamwork orientation
- A desire and willingness to learn about technology and the management challenges it creates
Please note that admissions decisions are based on a combination of the factors outlined above. Although your GPA and GMAT/GRE are important factors in your application, high scores in either exam do not guarantee admission.
