Faculty

Specialization

The MBA program prepares students through a broad curriculum of functional core courses, cross-functional and integrative courses, and specialization courses. Specialization within an area of business can be obtained by taking a minimum of 9 credits (three elective courses with two taken at the 600-level) in any of the following areas:

  • Accounting
  • Economic Development
  • Finance
  • Health Care Administration
  • Human Resources and Labor Relations
  • Information Systems
  • International Business
  • Marketing
  • Operations and Supply Chain Management

Internships/Co-ops

CSU has one of the ten largest co-op programs in the country and maintains close relationships with Cleveland's top corporate employers. Students in the co-op program may choose paid career-related employment, allowing them to apply academic theory to real-world problems. In addition students can be placed through the Greater Cleveland Connection as volunteers with employers in exchange for an opportunity to assess career options.

The Monte Ahuja College of Business offers a limited number of graduate assistantships, tuition grants, and on-campus employment to qualified students. Interested applicants should complete a downloadable Graduate Assistant application.  Applications are accepted in the Graduate Business Programs office, Monte Ahuja Hall, BU 219.

How to Apply

Students applying to the MBA program apply to the College of Graduate Studies. They will be required to take the GMAT or GRE exam and submit results before being considered for admission. MBA applicants are not required to submit letters of recommendation.

Students applying to the MBA program must meet both the Admission Requirements for the Graduate College as well as theAdmission Requirements for the MBA program.

Applicants should note that GMAT test registration forms and fees must be received at least three weeks before the testing day selected. Information and applications may be obtained from the CSU Testing Center (216) 687-2272. Alternatively, you may contact GMAT at 1-800-717-GMAT or visit their web site at http://www.mba.com/mba/TaketheGMAT.

Admission Requirements - Master of Business Administration

Applicants must meet the Admission Requirements for the Graduate College, as well as the following additional requirements:

  1. Admission to the MBA program is based on a combination of the applicant's GMAT or GRE score and the undergraduate cumulative grade point average.

    Students scoring below the minimum percentiles within the verbal and quantitative sections of the GMAT or GRE will be required to take remedial courses. 

    Applicants scoring within the 16th-19th percentile of the verbal section are waived from GAD 501, while scores of at least the 20th percentile within the verbal section waive both GAD 501 and GAD 502.

    Applicants scoring a minimum 25th percentile within the quantitative section of the GMAT or GRE are waived from OSM 500.  Please review the two options for fulfilling the OSM 500 requirement (if applicable).

    The GMAT may be waived for applicants holding a Ph.D. or M.D. degree. Medical doctors must be licensed to practice in the United States in order to take advantage of this waiver. Registration information for the GMAT is available in the Office of Graduate Admissions or the CSU Testing Center. For GMAT test information, visit the web site at http://www.mba.com/mba/TaketheGMAT. A score from the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) may be substituted for the GMAT.

  2. An official transcript from each college and university previously attended must be sent to the Office of Graduate Admissions.

The Master’s Programs Committee of the College of Business meets periodically to review admission requirements. Please call the Graduate Business Advising Office at (216) 687-3730 to obtain additional information.

Degree Requirements - Master of Business Administration

The Master of Business Administration degree is awarded upon successful completion of a minimum of 32 Level III MBA credits. Students may not register for Level III courses until all Level I and Level II courses have either been taken or waived. Exceptions must be approved by the MBA Program Director.
