Foster alumni make a difference
A recent
survey of Foster School alumni generated more than 8,000 responses.
Results? Nearly 3,000 alumni-founded companies, 300,000 new jobs,
and $82 billion in annual revenue nationally. Since most Foster
graduates reside in Washington, the biggest economic impact is in
the Pacific Northwest. Foster alumni are leaders whose success
spurs the economic vitality of Seattle, Washington state and
the nation.
Building for the future
The Foster School of
Business broke ground in 2008 on new, state-of-the-art facilities
that open the doors to greater collaboration among student teams,
faculty and business leaders. The first new building in the
complex, Paccar Hall, opened in 2010, adding more than 125,000
square feet to the School. The second new building, Dempsey Hall,
opened in the summer of 2012 and houses the Dean's Office, both
Graduate and Undergraduate Program offices, Career Center suites
for graduate and undergraduate students, and the Arthur W. Buerk
Center for Entrepreneurship.
University of Washington life
The Foster School of Business resides on the main University of
Washington campus. Nestled in Seattle, UW is a sizeable greenbelt
alive with Husky sports, museums and theaters, close to cafés and
pubs, and a variety of water activities from canoeing and kayaking
to boating or walking along the lakes. See virtual tours of UW
campus.
Seattle & Eastside locations
Seattle and the Eastside are home to iconic companies like
Microsoft, Amazon.com, Boeing and Starbucks. Foster School of
Business students have the advantage of accessing area leaders and
residing in a cosmopolitan city. Locals enjoy thriving arts and
music scenes, homegrown microbrews and wine. Nature lovers hike,
ski and paddle around a region famous for waterways and
wilderness. Explore Seattle and Washington state.
Vision for the future
While the School of
Business at the University of Washington has long been known as one
of the top business schools, our goal is to be the best public
school in the nation. Plans for the near future include new
state-of-the-art buildings, plus expanding faculty and curricula to
build upon a legacy of entrepreneurial innovation, strategic
research and business leadership.
