The future of LNG in the energy transition

LNG is not the final destination in the journey toward a sustainable energy future, but a vital transition fuel that bridges the gap between traditional fossil fuels and cleaner, low carbon energy sources. As the global energy system pivots to meet decarbonization goals, LNG plays a key role in ensuring energy security while supporting the shift toward lower-carbon solutions. At New Energy Business School, we recognize LNG as an essential player in this transition, providing a reliable energy source during the move towards fully sustainable energy systems.

Join us for our intensive LNG course, designed for professionals seeking to better understand how LNG can serve as a crucial stepping stone in the energy transition. Led by internationally recognized LNG experts, this programme will take you through every aspect of the LNG value chain, with an eye on its evolving role in the global energy landscape, particularly in Europe.

What You Will Gain

  • Gain a deep understanding of LNG’s role as a transition fuel in the global energy system.
  • Learn how LNG can be integrated today and bio-LNG tomorrow into the broader energy mix.
  • Explore new business opportunities in the LNG sector, with a focus on sustainable energy solutions.
  • Learn practical skills for developing LNG projects that align with the goals of the energy transition.
  • Participate in a virtual visit to an LNG terminal in Barcelona, gaining insights into its operations and the technology behind it.

Course Overview

Our course brings together experts from business, academia, and policy to deliver a comprehensive view of LNG’s value chain. We explore LNG not as an endpoint, but as a critical transition fuel that helps stabilize the energy market during the shift to low-carbon energy systems. The programme covers all aspects of LNG—from production to transport to its role in Europe’s energy future.

About the programme

Our course brings together experts from business, academia, and policy to deliver a comprehensive view of LNG’s value chain. We explore LNG not as an endpoint, but as a critical transition fuel that helps stabilize the energy market during the shift from high-carbon to low-carbon energy systems. The programme covers all aspects of LNG—from production to transport to its role in Europe’s energy future.

After this course, you will be able to:

  • Understand the concept of energy system integration and its role in the EU’s energy transition.
  • Identify key challenges in energy transition, including the mismatch in time, location, and function of energy systems.
  • Evaluate the role of hydrogen in the energy system, both in centralized and decentralized contexts.
  • Apply principles of electrification and the impact of DC technology on energy systems.
  • Analyze the flexibility gap in energy systems and explore the five flexibility options to address this gap.
  • Understand the functioning of energy markets, particularly gas and electricity markets, and the impact of renewables.
  • Examine the role of Distribution System Operators (DSOs) in system integration and explore practical examples of energy hubs, cable pooling, and flex tenders.
  • Utilize serious gaming methods to design balanced energy networks, optimizing techno-economic and environmental parameters.
  • Assess public acceptability and behavior change strategies related to energy policies and technologies.
  • Understand the principles of circular systems in energy and how they can be integrated into the energy transition.
  • Apply the energy transition model as a tool to drive systems integration in real-world energy projects.

What’s included in the Intensive Course LNG

When you join this course, you’ll receive one year of access to all course materials via our dedicated Online Learning Platform, so you can revisit what you’ve learned whenever you need to. Upon completion, you’ll receive a digital certificate of participation, which can easily be added to your LinkedIn profile.
