Understand the hard problems. Create solutions.
The Yale integrated MBA curriculum teaches more than a set of skills. It teaches a new way of looking at the world. The critical concerns of the global economy—from financial markets to climate change, from globalization to governance, in healthcare, in education, even in entrepreneurial activity—require leaders who can draw on the complexity of the modern business environment to create solutions and seize opportunities. The Yale curriculum is designed to train such leaders.
-
Broad Perspective.
The Yale core curriculum is designed around the cross-functional way contemporary organizations work, teaching fundamental skills in a rich context. Students learn to draw on a wide range of skills and resources in problem solving. Similarly, ethical and moral considerations are factored into every situation, and not relegated to a separate course. Yale faculty work together to deliver a seamless educational experience.
-
Deep Expertise.
Elective courses allow students to dive deeply into their areas of professional interest. SOM students may take as many electives as they choose at other schools and departments at Yale, opening up literally hundreds of options.
-
Rigorous.
Yale SOM teaches the fundamental skills of management, from using the capital asset pricing model to creating a value proposition, and holds its students to the highest standards of performance, integrity, and collegiality.
-
Practical.
While encompassing subjects from the basics of team building to the intricacies of financial markets, Yale SOM classes look at their subject matter in a rich, realistic context. Many SOM classes make use of Yale-authoredonline "raw" cases, which reflect actual business scenarios.

-
Global.
A broad understanding of the global economy is vital. SOM students are required to participate in a first-year, faculty-led International Experience trip. Through participation in the Global Network for Advanced Management, students can engage with business schools in emerging and developed economies. Global Network schools host an annual Immersion Week, for example. Students also have opportunities to participate in consulting trips abroad and to study at one of four international exchange partner schools. In addition, a diverse student body, having lived and worked in all corners of the world, brings a wealth of experiences into the classroom.
-
Leadership and Careers.
Yale SOM programs challenge students to align their professional goals with their values. Through courses and participation in student clubs, students learn the theory and practice of leadership. The small class size and low student-faculty ratio enable each student to draw on the resources of the SOM community.
