Are you keen to learn electrical installation? Interested in broadening your construction skills? Then this could be the course for you. It covers health and safety, electrical principles as well as electrical installation standards and components in building. This course is ideal if you want to consolidate your existing skills or would like to work in electrical installation in the future.

This course is suitable for anyone wishing to enter the building trade or already employed and would like to gain a recognised qualification.

At UK Open Learning we pride ourselves on our friendly and supportive tutors. Your tutor support will start as soon as you receive your course and will be valid for 12 months. All our tutors are highly qualified with extensive experience in supporting distance learning students. You contact your tutor via email and they are responsible for marking assignments answering your questions and guiding you through the course to ensure you are ready for your examinations.

Students must be aged 16 or over and be educated to GCSE level C or above or hold equivalent qualifications. You must have access to the Internet to complete the course.

We recommended you spend approximately 180 hours of your time studying for the BTEC Level 3 Electrical Installation and Design Award. The pace of study is completely up to you. To give an example, if you dedicate 2 hours a week to the course it would take you a year to complete but if you could spare 4 hours a week you couldcomplete it in six months.

Unit 1 – Health, Safety and Welfare in Construction and the Built Environment. Unit 2 – Electrical Principles in Building Services Engineering. Unit 3 – Electrical Installation Standards and Components in Building Services.

Students are assessed through a series of tutor marked assignments based on their application of the course content. The assignments take the form of a series of structured questions. There is no word count for these assignments however you do have to prove to your tutor that you have fully understood the question asked, and one sentence answers will be rejected, and you will be asked to re-submit it again for marking.

You will have to send in a series of assignments which your tutor will mark and return a feedback sheet to you with your results.
