Technology in the Curriculum and the Classroom
To prepare students for leadership in today's technology-driven
environment, the Executive MBA program integrates information
resources into all aspects of the curriculum and student life.
Participants gain managerial-level skills in computing and
communications technologies, developing proficiency with
spreadsheets, statistical and graphics packages, multimedia
presentation tools, and network communications. In Anderson's fully
networked environment, approximately 3,000 network ports connect
every seat in every classroom, breakout room, and library reading
room, enabling students to interact with one another and with
instructors, display computer work to an entire class, and connect
to the Internet and to the Anderson intranet from anywhere, at any
time. The Anderson intranet also affords students the use of
specialized databases, allows for online retrieval and transfer of
course materials through e-mail and network file servers, and
enables students to explore the extensive resources of the UCLA
Library System, including UCLA Anderson's Rosenfeld Management
Library. Wireless service is available in the breakout rooms
and other meeting locations throughout the Anderson complex.
Every Executive MBA participant must have a laptop computer that is
compatible with the Anderson network. The portability of the laptop
computer facilitates communication both on campus and away,
allowing students to strengthen team skills and integrate a wider
range of educational experiences. In addition, EMBA students have
access to the school's UNIX-based systems, a networked computer
lab, and scanning and video digitization equipment for multimedia
production. An extensive technical support program, including
loaner computers for emergency use, is available.
