What if you had the information to answer your own space-related questions?

Through in-depth classroom lecture, participants learn about the space allocation algorithms used by Oracle9i for free lists, and the new automatic segment space managed segments. The internal structures of these different segment types are discussed, relating the segment components to the functioning of a transaction. Tablespace fragmentation is discussed, and Oracle9i locally-managed tablespace functionality and structures are explained. Equipped with this knowledge, attendees will enhance their ability to perform real-time diagnostics, and will be more familiar with the internal implementation of Oracle's transaction processing.
