This course will provide students with the fundamental knowledge and skills needed to design, develop and configure consumer and business-to-business commerce Web applications built on the ATG Commerce platform. The course begins with a detailed look at the architecture of ATG Commerce and a discussion of the key considerations when designing an ATG Commerce site, focusing on the function of the various subsystems, what functionality is available out of the box, and when and how to extend the platform to implement custom requirements. From there, you will learn, through lecture and hands-on practice, how to create, customize, and maintain a fully featured commerce application by extending the ATG Commerce Reference Store. You will come to understand how to design standard and custom catalogs, create and manage multiple sites, configure and control pricing, manage shopping carts/orders, handle complex shipping and payment configurations, and process orders via the checkout process. You will also learn how to extend promotions, and gain an understanding of how ATG interfaces with fulfillment and inventory systems.
