Academic and Professional Speaking (Spring 2013)

This highly interactive course is designed for high-intermediate and advanced students who want to focus on speaking and listening in English for personal, professional, and academic reasons. Students acquire skills to speak more comfortably and accurately, improve pronunciation, develop listening and note-taking skills, and understand the conventions of conversation. Students listen and respond to a variety of audio materials, including lectures, discussions, and radio broadcasts. They also practice impromptu speaking skills through synchronous class meetings and recordings and oral presentation skills through exercises and presentations. Each student receives intensive and frequent feedback on fluency, accuracy, and pronunciation.
