Why a Marshall EMBA?
You know an EMBA can give the competitive advantage in today’s global marketplace. It can help you get into that longed-for career and help you move up the ladder within your organization. There are several EMBA programs from which you can choose. So, why choose Marshall University’s EMBA?
- We are AACSB accredited. Yes, every University will tell you that they are accredited. But are they “AACSB” accredited? Make sure you check. AACSB is a guarantee of quality that is recognized internationally.
- The faculty hold doctorates in their fields. Our teachers have proven themselves in PhD programs, and conduct modern relevant research across a wide range of business issues.
- Your fellow students are motivated professionals. Yes, we know we have difficult entrance requirements. It isn’t easy to become one of us. We look for the best. Are you one of the best? Can you be? Then join us and surround yourself with a worthy network or fellow students and alumni.
- We promise you a state of the art curriculum that will provide you with the knowledge and confidence to move ahead with your career. We use a combination of live in-person and on-line class time. The goal is efficiency: Learn and Master essential skills while developing close ties with your fellow students and teachers.
- Our scheduling is carefully researched. Our program lasts 17 months. You can do it faster elsewhere. But, why? We have worked hard to make sure we give you the shortest program that still guarantees you learn the necessary skills to improve your career. We offer you plenty of breaks and include an international trip. Be sure to carefully see what is included in the schedules other schools offer.
- Our price is excellent. Look around at other AACSB programs and compare prices. You can’t find a better quality per dollar!
What to expectExpect a program that is flexible and meets your needs
Students in the Marshall EMBA program are busy. You are professionals already and many of you have families and obligations. We understand. Our weekend format lets you complete your MBA without interruption to your professional life. We have designed our program with a live and electronic format to provide the greatest flexibility.
Boot camp gets your ready to succeed
Even before any of your classes technically begin, we provide you with a boot camp of sorts to get you legged up on topics you might find daunting after a break from academia. We’ll walk through some of the basic skills you’ll need to succeed in the program. Proposed topics for boot camp include:
- Management and Marketing Basics
- Basics of Economics and Quantitative Methods
- Business Communication and Case Study Methods
- Basic Accounting Concepts
- Basics of Finance
- Leadership and Team Building
(Domestic residency to Charlotte where students heard about NFL marketing from Carolina Panthers president and his marketing team)
Online vs. Live Classroom
To better understand the class schedule, please see the proposed schedule, and be aware that some of your course time will be available online via WIMBA, an interactive software allowing students to participate in class in real time. Students will have the option to attend some class time using WIMBA, or sit in a live classroom. We are still working on the details concerning which days will be available via WIMBA. But, we can safely say that Friday evening classes will be available by WIMBA. This means that when you get off work on Fridays, you may have the option of attending class at home. You won’t necessarily have to drive to the South Charleston Campus. Because most of our students tell us that they get the most out of class in a live classroom and prefer to meet face-to-face, we give you the option to join our faculty in a classroom if you prefer that method.

Lunch with us
Your Saturday on-campus classes will include a catered luncheon, so there is no need to leave campus and you can spend your lunch hour networking with your peers. You also will be given breaks throughout the day to stretch your legs.
We encourage teamwork
At the start of the program, we will assign students to a group. Each group then chooses a company, most likely a company at which one of the team members work. As they progress through the program, the groups will complete sub-projects concerning their company. At the end of the entire program each group would have a fantastic portfolio that essentially amounts to an analysis like one a professional consultant would provide to the company.
(The Pittsburgh Steelers marketing team gave a tour of their team’s stadium to a cohort during a domestic residency)
International residency
An international residency is an important part of an Executive MBA. In previous years, we have taken our students to Argentina, Brazil, Chile, The Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Australia and Mexico. Stay tuned for more information on the where we will go next time!
