This methodology pulls from PEM (Psychological and Emotional methods), TRIZ (Theory of Inventive Problem Solving), and an overall problem-solving algorithm (work flow). The PEM methodology is used to overcome psychological inertia developed from previous life experiences. The methods learned in PEM are commonly utilized in conjunction with TRIZ (Theory of Inventive Problem Solving). The TRIZ methodology converts a specific problem into a general problem. The practitioner uses the contradiction matrix to generate general solutions. The practitioner then generates a specific solution for the original problem. This technique allows the user to solve technical and physical contradictions. The course utilizes a workshop format, where students bring their own problems to class.
