This 5-day course covers the basics of reliability and shows how reliability is part of the Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) scorecard. The course follows the IDOV (Identify, Design, Optimize, Validate) framework. Identifying the boundary and scope of system requirements and designing the product with reliability in mind are covered first. Then optimizing the design over the time domain and functional validation of the product using a test progression strategy are emphasized. Control of key reliability features in manufacturing are detailed, as is the evaluation of field warranty and customer usage data. DFR assessments are a critical part of this course.
