Prerequisites
The following prerequisites are highly recommended:
- Have participated in at least one ART and one PI
- Hold at least one current SAFe certification
These skills and knowledge are highly recommended to successfully pass the SAFe® 6 Release Train Engineer (RTE) certification exam:
- Cross-team communication skills
- Full use of SAFe Principles in action
- Coach Agile and SAFe facilitation and lead by example
- Launch or participate in at least one ART and one Program Increment (PI)
- Working knowledge of team dynamics
- Ability to manage stakeholders
- Minimum 3 months of real-world, hands-on experience as an RTE
Attendees must attend all days of the course in order to qualify for the exam.
Exam Details
Completing this course gives you access to the exam and all related study materials as part of your Learning Plan in the SAFe Community Platform.
- Exam name – SAFe® 6 Release Train Engineer Exam
- Exam format – Multiple choice, multiple responses
- Exam delivery – Web-based (single-browser), closed book, no outside assistance, timed
- Exam access – Candidates can access the exam within the SAFe Community Platform upon completing your SAFe® Release Train Engineer course.
- Exam duration – Once the exam begins, candidates have 120 minutes to complete the exam.
- Number of questions – 60
- Passing score – RTE6 exam = 45 out of 60 (75%)
- Language – English
- First exam attempt is included as part of the course registration fee if the exam is taken within 30 days of course completion. Each retake attempt costs $50.
- Retake policy – Second exam attempt (first retake) can be made immediately after the first attempt. The third attempt requires a 10-day wait. The fourth attempt requires a 30-day hold.
Study materials for the exam
The test is designed to measure knowledge and skills related to the job role. We strongly recommend that candidates use a variety of resources to prepare for this exam, including:
- Course materials - The course materials are an important artifact of the course and can be downloaded from the SAFe Community Platform. These materials can be used to refer back to the content that was specifically presented during the class.
- Study Guide - This comprehensive guide describes the job role and all resources related to the exam, including a detailed reading list. It is available via the Learning Plan in the SAFe Community Platform upon completion of the course.
- Practice Test - The practice test is designed to predict success on the certification exam, and it has the same number of questions, level of difficulty, and length of time. It is part of the Learning Plan in the SAFe Community Platform and can be taken an unlimited number of times at no cost.

FAQ
When is the classroom schedule?
Depending on the starting dates, our classroom courses are consecutively held from 10 am - 6 pm (CET) with lunch breaks in between
Will missing a live class affect my ability to complete the course?
Yes, you may be subject to not getting the exam voucher if you don't attend a class. Therefore, it's better always to let us know at least 2 weeks in advance if you require any rescheduling requests.
