About the course

The Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe®) helps companies address the major challenges of developing and delivering enterprise-class software and systems in the shortest sustainable lead time. It is an online, freely available knowledge base with proven patterns for implementing Lean-Agile software and systems at enterprise scale.

SAFe synchronizes alignment, collaboration, and delivery for a large number of Agile teams. SAFe is scalable and configurable, allowing each organization to adapt it to its own business needs. It supports both small-scale solutions with 50-125 employees and complex systems requiring thousands of people.

A SAFe Product Owner (PO) acts as the team's customer representative and works with Product Management and other stakeholders—including other Product Owners—to define and prioritize stories in the Team Backlog so that the system or solution effectively addresses the program's priorities while maintaining the technical integrity of the features or components that the team is responsible for creating. The PO plays an important role in quality assurance and is the only team member with the authority to approve stories as complete.

A SAFe Product Manager (PM) acts as the customer's internal voice to the Agile Release Train (ART) and works with product owners to continuously develop and communicate the customer vision to the development teams. The product manager provides a financially prioritized backlog for the ART, defines the system's features to ensure that the solution meets relevant standards and other system quality requirements, and participates in the validation of the proposed hypotheses about feature benefits.

During this two-day course, participants in SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager will gain an in-depth understanding of the Agile Release Train (ART), how it delivers value, and what they can do to effectively perform their role.

They will also learn how to apply Lean thinking to write Epics, break them down into Features and Stories, plan and execute Iterations, and plan Program Increments.

Finally, participants will learn about the Continuous Delivery Pipeline and DevOps culture, how to effectively integrate as product owners and product managers, and what is required to relentlessly improve the ART.

By participating in the course, individuals will be prepared to take the exam and become a certified SAFe® 6 Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM).

Requirements for graduation

The first step towards becoming a SAFe Certified Professional is to participate in the SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager course. This is a requirement, as participation in the course gives access to all study material and the exam. Please note that participation in the course does not guarantee that you will pass the exam.

Exam details

• Exam name – SAFe® 6 ProductOwner/Product Manager Exam
• Exam format – Multiple choice, multiple responses
• Exam delivery – Web-based (single-browser), closed book, no outside assistance, timed
• Exam access – Candidates can access the exam within the SAFe Community Platform upon completing your SAFe® Product Owner/Product Manager course.
• Exam duration – Once the exam begins, candidates have 90 minutes (1.5 hours) to complete.
• Number of questions – 45
• Language – English
• Exam cost – First exam attempt is included as part of the course. Exam voucher valid for 1 year. Each retake attempt costs $50.
• Retake policy – Second exam attempt (first retake) can be done immediately after the first attempt.
• Third attempt requires a 10-day wait. The fourth attempt requires a 30-day wait.

When is the classroom schedule?

Depending on the starting dates, our classroom courses are consecutively held from 10 am - 6 pm (CET) with lunch breaks in between

Will missing a live class affect my ability to complete the course?

Yes, you may be subject to not getting the exam voucher if you don't attend a class. Therefore, it's better always to let us know at least 2 weeks in advance if you require any rescheduling requests.
