Do you love CSI? Are you potty about Kay Scarpetta? Then you will love this Forensic Science course. It covers everything from human anatomy to criminology, with an understanding of chemistry and forensic psychology. You will cover criminal profiling and fingerprinting, spending time learning how to analyse crime scenes and examining evidence as well as forensic computing.
This course from UK Open Learning will provide you with a great deal of information about this exciting and wide-ranging subject. Whilst we do not pretend that you will be able to step into a forensic scientist's job on completion of this course – you would need to undertake a practical qualification to do that – we do provide you with invaluable insights into this complex world which will stand you in good stead should you wish to take that further step into a vocational, hands-on course or pursue it at a more academic level.
At UK Open Learning we pride ourselves on our friendly and supportive tutors. Your tutor support will start as soon as you receive your course and will be valid for 12 months. All our tutors are highly qualified with extensive experience in supporting distance learning students. You contact your tutor via email and they are responsible for marking assignments answering your questions and guiding you through the course to ensure you are ready for your examinations.
Obviously, an interest in crime, the causes of crime and solving crime would be an advantage, as would the desire to gain a fuller understanding of the workings of the human body as it affects forensic science. However, with this being a Level Three course, a reasonable level of literacy to GCSE A-C would be desirable.
We recommended you spend approximately 110 hours of your time studying for this course. The pace of study is completely up to you. To give an example, if you dedicate 2 hours a week to the course it would take you a year to complete but if you could spare 4 hours a week you could complete it in six months.
