It has been extensively researched and developed, giving a comprehensive review of the major aspects of Business and Finance.

This course is designed to help meet the needs of those who want an introduction to this challenging subject, either with a view to further study or to improve their knowledge and skills in a future occupation, or even to enhance these in an existing job. This qualification will provide you with a broad introduction to the key components of this exciting and challenging field.

At UK Open Learning we pride ourselves on our friendly and supportive tutors. Your tutor support will start as soon as you receive your course and will be valid for 12 months. All our tutors are highly qualified with extensive experience in supporting distance learning students. You contact your tutor via email and they are responsible for marking assignments answering your questions and guiding you through the course to ensure you are ready for your examinations.

UK Open Learning's Business Studies course is open to anyone, and no prior knowledge is needed. Obviously, an interest in business would be an advantage, as would the desire to gain a fuller understanding of the workings of the world of finance. A reasonable level of literacy would also be desirable.

You have a full 12 months from the day you receive the course to complete it.

Unit 1: Business Activity and the Changing Environment. Unit 2: Human Resources. Unit 3: Accounting and Finance. Unit 4: Marketing. Unit 5: Production.

There is no exam as such, although you will be required to complete a series of assignments. These assignments have no word count. However, you do have to prove to your tutor that you have fully understood the questions asked.

NCFE is recognised as an awarding body by the qualification regulators ('regulators') for England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The regulators are the Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulator (Ofqual) in England, the Department for Children, Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills (DCELLS) in Wales and the Council for Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) in Northern Ireland.

You will have to send in a series of assignments which your tutor will mark and return a feedback sheet to you with your results.
