A Level English Language + Literature

UK Open Learning are pleased to offer the opportunity to study to AS and A2 A-level English Language and Literature (A) as specified by AQA. This distance learning course allows you to set your own pace for studying and learn in the comfort of your own home.

Did you know UK Open Learning sends out the whole course when you order with us and not in sections like some other training providers? Neither are our courses on-line so you can study wherever you are such as on a train without the need for computer access

At UK Open Learning we pride ourselves on our friendly and supportive tutors. Your tutor support will start as soon as you receive your course and will be valid for 12 months. All our tutors are highly qualified with extensive experience in supporting distance learning students. You contact your tutor via email and they are responsible for marking assignments answering your questions and guiding you through the course to ensure you are ready for your examinations.

The A-level builds on the course content of GCSE English Language and Literature. Although it is not necessary to have this qualification before undertaking A-level English Language and Literature, in order to meet the demands of the course, it is recommended that candidates do have literary and communication skills equivalent to C or higher at GCSE.

This is variable according to student commitment, though AQA recommend around 150 guided learning hours for AS and 150 guided learning hours for A2.

The A-level aims to encourage candidates: To use integrated linguistic and literary approaches in their reading and interpretation of texts; To engage creatively and independently with a wide range of spoken, written and multimodal texts, exploring the relationship between texts; To undertake independent and sustained studies to develop their skills as producers and interpreters of language.

UK Open Learning will provide you with a list of examination centres but it is entirely your responsibility to find a centre which will accept you as an external candidate.

AQA

We will provide you with the materials needed to study for this qualification. However, it is the student's responsibility to organise to sit the exam.
