The coordinated MBA-MSHA program is a 30-month program, including 21 months of courses on campus plus the 9-month administrative residency.
The program blends academic coursework and directed experience in institutional operations and policy. Through 17 core courses, students acquire a broad base of knowledge and skills in the management of health service organizations. Students select four electives in line with their own interests and career objectives. The administrative residency is conducted under the preceptorship of a high-level administrator in the host institution and provides the student with applied experience along with a stipend.

Acceptance to the program is based on a composite of the applicant's scholastic record, standardized test scores, references, and a personal interview. Health-related work experiences and studies are also taken into consideration.
Limited scholarship and traineeship funds are available. These funds are awarded based on need and scholastic record. The number of awards varies from year to year.
The Master of Business Administration - Master of Science in Health Administration (MBA-MSHA) Program is offered cooperatively by UAB School of Business and TheDepartment of Health Services Administration. The program has a diverse faculty with expertise in health services applications such as accounting, computers, economics, finance, human resource management, law, management information systems, marketing, organizational behavior and theory, and quantitative methods.
