What you will learn
This postgraduate diploma course represents the second qualification level in the technology management programme. The diploma builds on the operational focus of the postgraduate certificate by providing you with concepts and tools to support the effective strategic management of technology.
The qualification provides an analytical view of strategic issues in technology management, and will equip you for senior technology management roles. The compulsory modules in the diploma link the fields of strategic management and technology strategy. There is also the opportunity to choose optional modules relevant to your particular interests. The modules are designed to be relevant whatever your personal background and experience – the knowledge and skills taught can be applied to all types of technology and all economic sectors.

Time required and cost
To achieve the Postgraduate Diploma in Technology Management you must successfully gain 120 credits. We recommend that you take no more than 60 credits at one time. The qualification typically takes two years to complete based on 12-16 hours of study each week.
For details on module cost please see the table at the bottom of this page. The total cost of the qualification depends on the modules studied. As a guide the total fee for 2012/13 academic year was from £7,100 to £9,620.
NB: The optional modules T824, T826, T827 and T828 all include compulsory day schools held in the UK only, and that this will incur additional costs for travel and subsistence.

You will develop a range of job-related and transferable skills such as critical thinking, creative problem solving, and the ability to cope with rapid technological change. Entry requirements
To study for this postgraduate diploma you must hold a bachelors degree from a UK university or other recognised degree-awarding body, or a qualification at equivalent level.
If you do not hold a bachelors degree then you may be permitted to link modules to this qualification once you have demonstrated the ability to study at postgraduate level by successfully completing one of the modules.
You will also need to be proficient in English, to an IELTS standard of 6.0. If you are unsure you will be able to take a free English test as part of the registration process.
Classification of course
On successful completion of the required modules, you can be awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Technology Management entitling you to use the letters PGD (Tech Mgmt) (Open) after your name.
You may continue your studies and add a further 60 credits to your postgraduate diploma to gain an MSc in Technology Management.
