Our mission is to “prepare students and business professionals and to improve business practice.” The primary ways in which we accomplish that mission is through our academic programs and research. Our academic programs are benchmarked constantly through our commitment to continuous improvement as exemplified by our accreditation in accounting and business by AACSB International. Our faculty contribute to understanding business and economics through their cutting edge research which is published in peer-reviewed national and international journals.
Our 20,000-plus alumni lead companies and communities around the region and around the globe. As corporate leaders, entrepreneurs, and civic leaders, SIUE alumni demonstrate their value daily. That is why corporations like The Boeing Company, Edward Jones, Emerson, Enterprise Rent-a-Car, and Monsanto, to name a few, partner with us to offer internships, cooperative education and employment to our students.
In addition, the economic impact of the SIUE School of Business can be felt throughout the region, thanks to our excellent educational programs and to our outreach programs that encourage entrepreneurship, facilitate trade and help small businesses grow. The Small Business Development Center conducts nearly 50 seminars and workshops throughout the year addressing topics important to business owners. One of six trade centers in Illinois, The International Trade Center serves businesses in the state’s 45 southernmost counties by providing services like free export consultation, international market analysis, identification of foreign buyers and seminars on international business strategies. The Southwestern Illinois Entrepreneurship Center promotes entrepreneurship by helping businesses grow and by teaching entrepreneurship to university and high school students.
