Podcast for iOS v1.2

Apple have finally released the version of the Podcasts app they should have released in the first place!

A hugely improved version of the Podcast app is now available and it’s actually usable.

The first version was widely dismissed as being full of bugs and lacking several important features. Add in some very dubious skeuomorphic elements such as the enormous tape player in the podcast player window, I think it is fair to say that the application wasn’t a big hit.

This latest version addresses many of the issues and adds in some new features.

The app has been redesigned and the tape player is gone!

Apple have also introduced “Stations”, a way of creating your own custom playlists, as well as allowing you to sync your podcast subscriptions and play position across all your iOS devices using iCloud.

However, on device support for subscribing to password protected podcasts (such as the members feeds for ScreenCastsOnline) is still not supported, but I show you how you can still subscribe and sync via iTunes.
