Pebble & Contact Lockscreen Info

Two segments in this week's show.

First is a look at the new Pebble watch and iPhone App - Just released, the Pebble watch is a great new device that integrates with your iPhone, and has caused the Apple rumour mill to explode with anticipation of a new Apple iWatch. You can see just what the fuss is (potentially) all about.

In this section, I take a look at setting up the Pebble watch from a factory restore and take you through the simple process of pairing with the iPhone and the installation of a new watch face from the iPhone over Bluetooth.

Once set up, I demonstrate navigating the Pebble menu and demonstrate the ability to traverse playlists on your iPhone from both the Music app as well as Spotify, plus how to control music playback.

Another benefit of Pebble is to allow iMessages to automatically display on the watch when delivered to your iPhone. No more having to remove your iPhone from your pocket, the message is on your Pebble and can be scrolled to be read.

It's early days for the Pebble and I would expect to see a lot more applications being developed and released over the next few months. This really just gives you a taster of what might be possible, and to be honest, gets me even more excited if Apple do eventually come out with a similar product, but with Apple's design and usability polish.

Secondly, I take a look at a simple free utility to create a smart label for the lock screen of your iOS device.

When you're out and about, you should lock your screen, but if you lose your iOS device, how does anyone know who it belongs to?

You can cobble together a label for your lock screen using any graphics package, but this simple application does it all for you, and allows you to create a basic image label to install as you lock screen.
