In this session, Steven shows you how to make the most of PL/SQL to dramatically improve the quality and performance of your programs. All developers, from beginner to expert, will benefit from Steven's ideas and demonstrations.

Topics Covered:
  • Day 1: 2:00PM – 4:30PM CET: Turbo-charge PL/SQL Execution with Bulk Processing The focus of this first presentation is on enhancing the performance of multi-row SQL statements executed from within PL/SQL, using FORALL and BULK COLLECT. After attending this seminar, you'll be able to create new programs using the features discussed and use them to redesign existing programs safely for enhanced PL/SQL execution.
  • Day 2: 2:00PM – 4:30PM CET: Writing Maintainable PL/SQL Code Software managers (and, therefore, their developers) are very focused on delivering applications "on time" (that is, to meet the current production deadline). Sure, that's important. But as (or maybe even more) important is to build applications so that they can be maintained and enhanced without consuming all the resources of the development team (thereby interfering with new development). This session offers a wide-ranging set of techniques to make your code easy to understand and maintain over time. These techniques include: the use of subtypes and local modules; how to activate and check compliance with standards; and encapsulation (information hiding).
  • Day 3: 2:00PM – 4:30PM CET: Error Management Features of Oracle PL/SQL In the third and final session, you’ll go beyond the basics of exception handling in PL/SQL to explore the abundance of specialized error management features in Oracle, plus receive recommendations for achieving consistent, robust application construction. After attending, you'll be able to fully leverage PL/SQL error management features and ensure your development team follows best practices for consistent error management.

Please note: When you register for this event it will appear you are booking for an event on the first day only. This is not an error but due to constraints within our booking system, please do proceed with your booking and you will in fact receive the access details for all three days
