This 9.0 course provides an overview of the management of a shop floor that uses repetitive and lean execution. Companies that manufacture a related family of products for broad consumption can use repetitive and lean execution to make their manufacturing environments as efficient as possible. Repetitive manufacturing is a method of manufacturing in which the same products are continually and repetitiously manufactured. You can use rate schedules instead of work orders to plan and execute your manufacturing tasks. Lean execution eliminates the use of work orders and rate schedules, which simplifies the user interaction with the system. Companies often use lean execution to complete finished goods with no work in process (WIP) inventory or to complete multi-level items in one transaction.
This course also provides an overview of the management of kanbans. Kanbans are a triggering system to signal when materials are needed on the shop floor. You can use kanbans with repetitive execution to automate some of the shop floor tasks that you perform to replenish materials.
