Course 6728: Managing Access to Resources in Windows Server 2008

Introduction This 2-hour online course is a part of the eLearning collection 6424AE: Fundamentals of Windows Server 2008 Active Directory. It provides you with the knowledge and skills to manage access to resources in Windows Server 2008.

Topics covered in the course include:

• Management of NTFS file and folder permissions
• Procedures for determining effective permissions

Student prerequisites

• Knowledge of networking concepts such as TCP/IP functions; NET+ or equivalent knowledge
• Intermediate knowledge of network operating systems
• Basic knowledge of server hardware with A+ or equivalent knowledge
• Completion of collection 6420: Fundamentals of a Windows Server 2008 Network Infrastructure and Application Platform and collection 6421: Configuring and Troubleshooting a Windows Sever 2008 Network Infrastructure, or Exam 70-642 TS: Windows Server 2008 Network Infrastructure, Configuring

Objectives At the end of the course, students will be able to:

• Describe the fundamental concepts related to managing access.
• Assign permissions to shared resources.
• Manage NTFS file and folder permissions.

• Microsoft Silverlight 4.0 or higher
• Microsoft Windows Media Player 7.0 or higher
• Microsoft XML Core Services 3.0 or higher
• A Super VGA monitor with minimum screen resolution 1024x768, with 16-bit color.
• A sound card, and either speakers or headphones (for multi-media audio).
• Internet bandwidth of 56K or faster. Broadband internet access is recommended.
