Course 6302: Introducing Microsoft SharePoint Designer 2007

Introduction This one-hour course describes how you can use SharePoint Designer 2007 to create, customize, and manage SharePoint Web sites. This knowledge helps you begin exploring the key benefits of SharePoint Designer 2007 as a tool to design and develop the content for SharePoint Web sites.

This course covers the following topics:

• SharePoint Designer workspace
• Site definition
• Site templates
• Master Pages
• Web Parts
• Workflows
• Check in and Check out
• Backup and Restore
• Contributor mode

This course requires that students meet the following prerequisites:

• Proficiency in performing basic tasks of Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Proficiency in using SharePoint sites by using a browser
• Proficiency in Microsoft FrontPage (optional)
• Basic HTML skills (optional)

Objectives At the end of the course, students will be able to:

• Describe the features and benefits of SharePoint Designer.

• A Pentium II, 256 MB RAM with a processor speed greater than or equal to 400 MHZ
• Microsoft® Windows® 2000 or higher
• Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher
• Adobe Flash 7.0 or higher (1MB disk space needed to install)
• Microsoft Silverlight 4.0 or higher
• Microsoft Windows Media Player 7.0 or higher
• Microsoft XML Core Services 3.0 or higher
• A Super VGA monitor with minimum screen resolution 1024x768, with 16-bit color.
• A sound card, and either speakers or headphones (for multi-media audio).
• Internet bandwidth of 56K or faster. Broadband internet access is recommended.
