Course 6148: Automating Administration in Microsoft Internet Information Services 7.0

Introduction This course provides IT Professionals with the knowledge and skills required to describe the command line interfaces that can be used to administer IIS 7.0. This course also shows how these command line interfaces can be used in scripts that can automate many administrative tasks in IIS 7.0.

• Exam 70-649 TS: Transition from Windows Server 2003 MCSE to Windows Server 2008 Technology Specialist
• Exam 70-643 TS: Configuring Windows Server 2008 Application Services

Audience Prerequisites:

• Practical knowledge of Windows Server 2008 administration
• Experience of setting security properties on network resources
• Experience with security certificates
• Knowledge of the HTTP and TCP/IP protocols

• Describe the command line and scripting interfaces for IIS 7.0.
• Administer IIS 7.0 by using AppCmd.
• Administer IIS 7.0 by using Windows PowerShell.

• Microsoft Silverlight 4.0 or higher
• Microsoft Windows Media Player 7.0 or higher
• Microsoft XML Core Services 3.0 or higher
• A Super VGA monitor with minimum screen resolution 1024x768, with 16-bit color.
• A sound card, and either speakers or headphones (for multi-media audio).
• Internet bandwidth of 56K or faster. Broadband internet access is recommended.

For courses containing Virtual Server-based labs (courses in the IT Professional and Developer Catalog), you will need:

• Microsoft Virtual Server ActiveX control (1MB disk space needed to install)
