Course 5246: Deploying Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0

Introduction In this online learning course, you will learn how to install WSS 3.0 as well as how to plan an upgrade from WSS 2.0 to 3.0. In addition, you will explore how to handle common upgrade issues. This course also helps prepare you for certification exam 70-631.

Student Prerequisites:

• Have on-the-job experience implementing, managing, and supporting Microsoft Windows Server 2003, including Internet Information Services (IIS).
• Have working knowledge of networking, for example, TCP/IP and Domain Name System(DNS).
• Recommended on-the-job experience implementing, managing, and supporting Windows SharePoint Services 2.0.

Objectives At the end of the course, students will be able to:

• Install WSS 3.0.
• Describe the different methods, best practices, and guidelines for handling site customizations involved in the planning for an upgrade from WSS 2.0 to 3.0.
• Describe the common steps for upgrading from WSS 2.0 to 3.0, primary tasks involved in different types of upgrade, and common solutions to possible upgrade problems.

• Microsoft Silverlight 4.0 or higher
• Microsoft Windows Media Player 7.0 or higher
• Microsoft XML Core Services 3.0 or higher
• A Super VGA monitor with minimum screen resolution 1024x768, with 16-bit color.
• A sound card, and either speakers or headphones (for multi-media audio).
• Internet bandwidth of 56K or faster. Broadband internet access is recommended.
