Course 5242: Optimizing, Reporting, and Maintaining the Microsoft Windows-Based Hosting Solution

Introduction In this online learning course, you will use Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) to monitor, optimize, report, and maintain hosted services in the hosted-environment. Also you will see how MOM uses Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SRS) to produce reports based on the Windows-based Hosting deployment. This also helps you prepare for the certification exam 70-501.

Student Prerequisites:

• 3+ years of experience managing a Microsoft Windows-based network.
• An MCSE on Windows Server 2003 credential or equivalent knowledge.
• Knowledge equivalent to that taught in Course 2576.
• Familiarity with operational best practices such as those described in the Microsoft Operations Framework (MOF) or Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL)
• The ability and experience to troubleshoot the following:
  • IIS
  • Active Directory
  • Security
  • Network storage
  • Infrastructure

Objectives At the end of the course, students will be able to:

• Monitor server and services in the Windows-based hosting solution.
• Optimize the performance of the hosting solution.
• Run reports in the Windows-based Hosting solution.
