Course 5233: Customizing the 2007 Microsoft Office System Client Installation

Introduction In this 2-hour course you learn how to customize a 2007 Microsoft Office System installation. You learn about the different options and tools for customization, how to create a customized network installation point, and how to configure Office through group policy. In the lab, you will create a customized Office installation.

This course helps you prepare for exam 70-624.

Student prerequisites:

• Experience deploying, managing, and supporting either Windows® client systems or Office System technologies.
• Familiarity with standard client and application deployment methods, such as RIS, imaging, and SMS.
• Familiarity with networking fundamentals.
• Familiarity with Active Directory® directory service.
• Familiarity with the 2007 Office System and Windows Vista™.

• Control Microsoft Office system settings by using Group Policy.
  • Describe how Group Policy templates can be used to customize the user environment.
  • Describe how to create a Group Policy object to control and enforce Microsoft Office system settings.

• A Pentium II, 256 MB RAM with a processor speed greater than or equal to 400 MHZ
• Microsoft® Windows® 2000 or higher
• Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher
• Adobe Flash 7.0 or higher (1MB disk space needed to install)
• Microsoft Silverlight 4.0 or higher
• Microsoft Windows Media Player 7.0 or higher
• Microsoft XML Core Services 3.0 or higher
• A Super VGA monitor with minimum screen resolution 1024x768, with 16-bit color.
• A sound card, and either speakers or headphones (for multi-media audio).
• Internet bandwidth of 56K or faster. Broadband internet access is recommended.

• Microsoft Virtual Server ActiveX control (1MB disk space needed to install)
