Course 5153: Managing Enterprise Data by Using Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server Mobile

Introduction In this 2-hour course you will learn how to manage, view and synchronize SQL Server data from a mobile device. Topics within the course include Microsoft® SQL Server ™ 2005 Compact Edition rywhere database security, maintaining SQL Server Compact Edition databases, and exchanging and replicating data between SQL Server Compact Edition databases and SQL Server. In the lab you will apply security and maintain a SQL Compact Edition database. Additionally you will synchronize data with SQL Server 2005.
This course will also help you prepare for Exam 70-540: TS: Microsoft® Windows Mobile - Application Development.

Student prerequisites:

• Microsoft Visual Studio® 2005 (1 year)
• Microsoft .NET Framework / .NET Compact Framework. (1-2 years)
• Microsoft Visual Basic® .NET or C# (1-2 years)
• Working knowledge of SQL Server 2000/2005 (1 year)
• Enterprise application development (1 year)
• Smart Device development using Visual Studio 2005 (recommended)

Objectives At the end of the course, students will be able to:

• Apply SQL Server Mobile database security by using passwords and encryption.
• Utilize maintenance techniques to prevent SQL Server Mobile database fragmentation.
• View and exchange remote SQL Server data from a mobile device by using remote data access (RDA).
• Synchronize SQL Server Mobile data with a SQL Server database by using merge replication.
