The Lisbon MBA International

The Lisbon MBA is a joint-venture between Nova SBE and CATÓLICA-LISBON – the leading Business Schools in Portugal - that offers a two year, part-time MBA and an international, full-time MBA, in partnership with the MIT Sloan School of Management.

The Lisbon MBA develops one-of-a-kind managers through a holistic approach to management, preparing future leaders to make a difference in a resource-constrained world. The Lisbon MBA strives not only to have a high quality curriculum and faculty, but to help students develop their own interpersonal skills, empowering their abilities and knowledge through diversity.

Most challenging achievements and the future

The Lisbon MBA helps students launch their own businesses, with one start-up being recognized as one of the best in Portugal, and another already going international. This is encouraged through the Entrepreneurship Hub (an Action-Learning component of the MBA, based at the top incubator in Portugal, Startup Lisboa), where students engage with a number of mentors and resources, and also by connecting them with many investors throughout the world.

One of the most challenging achievements is successful placement. The Lisbon MBA achieved the highest number of students with job offers before graduation in times of acute economic crisis. This was the result of not only a highly qualified faculty, a challenging (and practical) curriculum, and the focus on networking opportunities, but also due to the awards they have received throughout the years.

Last year, The Lisbon MBA was a finalist of the Association of MBAs Global Innovation Award, due to the approach to soft skills development. They were also recognized as the best and most innovative brand in education in Portugal.

For the future, the program aims to focus on social and environmental sustainability and to further increase the class diversity.
