The Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Business is committed
to our mission of developing principled, innovative thought
leaders in global communities. Named in honor of the late Jesse
Holman Jones, a prominent Houston business and civic leader, the
school received its initial funding in 1974 through a major gift
from the Houston Endowment Inc., a philanthropic foundation
established by Jones and his wife, Mary Gibbs Jones.
Upholding the prestigious academic traditions of Rice
University, the Jones School offers the Full Time
MBA, MBA for Executives, and MBA for
Professionals degrees. Our students come
to Houston from all over the world for
the unique opportunities and resources that only we
provide, such as the El Paso Corporation Finance Center,
the Gilbert and Ruth Whitaker Business Information Center, and
the Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship.
Notably, sixty-one percent of our Full Time MBA Class of 2011 is
from outside of Houston.
Our MBA programs have been recognized in the U.S.A. and internationally for leadership and innovation by Business Week, U.S. News and World Report, the Financial Times, the Economist, and Entrepreneur magazine. Most recent notables:
- The MBA program placed No. 1 in Texas and in the Southwest as the best global MBA for Latin American students.
- The MBA for Executives program is 8th in the US for salary increase.
- The MBA for Professionals program placed 6th overall.
- Research productivity is 10th.
The Jones School also offers learning opportunities beyond the
traditional MBA. A full schedule of non-degree, open
enrollment Executive Education and customized business
courses allow industry professionals to gain an advantage in
their industry. The Rice Education Entrepreneurship
Program develops leaders for Houston-area K-12
schools. Our Business Minor is open to any Rice
undergraduate who meets enrollment requirements.
An active network of over 4000 Jones School alumni have
made a global impact in all areas of business, including
entrepreneurship, finance, and energy. Two-thirds of our alumni
reside in Houston, with fifty-five percent holding executive-level
positions or running their own companies.
The Rice MBA Program is accredited by AACSB International.
