The Institute of Operations Management (IOM) Certificate in Operations Management programme provides a broad introduction to supply chain management, operations management and production to satisfy the need for a course that is more general and at a lower level than the Diploma in Operations Management.
As part of the Institute's continuous improvement process, the syllabus for this qualification has recently been revised following considerable consultation with industry.
The Certificate is now accredited by Ofqual.
The IOM Level 3 Certificate in Operations Management aims to provide:
- An introduction to the body of knowledge for Operations Management
- An appreciation of the importance and scope of operations management and supply chain management in all types of businesses
- An understanding of the fundamentals of operations management and supply chain management
- An opportunity for personal development within an individual’s profession
- A nationally recognised qualification
- An entry programme for those wishing to proceed to the Institute’s higher qualifications
Who Is The Course Designed For?
The IOM Level 3 Certificate in Operations Management is designed for a variety of personnel:
- for those new to their profession and require a foundation course before progressing to the Diploma
- those already in the Operations Management field who can take advantage of a wider perception of their role but have no formal qualifications in this area
- those employed in other areas which impact on or are affected by production and operations management
- There are no formal qualifications required for entry to the Certificate programme as along as candidates can demonstrate an ability to meet assessment requirements
Support
Full support offered following initial induction and development of personal study plan. The Certificate can be studied through the ROME distance learning package and / or Durham Open Learning College Moodle on-line resources. The course is fully supported by tutor input, unlimited email, telephone and Skype guidance.
Typical Course Outline
The normal length of the Certificate in Operations Management is 90 guided learning hours.
The sequence in which the units are delivered are not set and can vary depending on agreed individual learning plans. Although it is advised that Units 1, 2 and 3 are covered in sequence. Unit titles are:
- Supply Chain Management,
- Operations Management
- Production
Assessment
Assessment of the course is through 1 examination and 2 assignments.
