Welcome to the College of Business Administration at California State University, Long Beach. The CBA’s core values are to engage, execute, and excel.
Excellence is our ultimate goal. The CBA is one of 648 business schools in 38 countries, out of 13,000 worldwide that are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International. AACSB standards require that our faculty maintain academic and professional qualifications and our students achieve the CBA’s learning goals. We are committed to excellence in education, and our continuous accreditation since 1972 is a testimony to the hard work and dedication of our faculty and staff.
Our faculty is the foundation of our excellence. Since 2005, 35 new tenure-track faculty members have joined the CBA, and in Fall 2012, two additional faculty members will arrive in Finance and Information Systems. We have recently hired faculty members in Accounting, Human Resources Management, and Supply Chain Management.
The CBA also provides outstanding opportunities for learning, growth, and development outside the classroom. The Ukleja Center for Ethical Leadership and the Student Center for Professional Development engage students in professional activities that extend beyond academic degree requirements. Through seminars, mentoring relationships, and service to the community, participating students develop substantial real-world experience.
The Ukleja Center partners with the Long Beach Chamber of Commerce to sponsor Leading the Ethical Organization, where Ken Blanchard was the 2011 keynote speaker, followed by USC’s Pat Haden in 2012. SCPD offers the Passport to Success to help students develop the interpersonal, leadership, and communications skills that employers are looking for in our graduates.
Our Student Managed Investment Fund provides Finance students with hands-on experience managing real-money portfolios. The Associated Business Students Organizations Council, comprised of twelve student clubs, helps our students become strong future business leaders through professional events and workshops. With the help of key alumni volunteers, we are developing a strong CBA Alumni & Friends network that will extend the CBA family beyond graduation.
Along a variety of dimensions, the CBA engages our students in ways that enhance their career success. As we execute our plans and activities, we are moving the CBA along the path to excellence.
The Current Environment
Challenging budget conditions continue to face the University and CBA, yet I am confident that we will meet these challenges while maintaining our focus on student success. Our fees represent an excellent value compared to other public universities across the nation, and we strive to be at the forefront in terms of educational quality. No matter what budget difficulties we face, we will execute our programs to the best of our ability.

Our students are working more hours than ever to afford their education, and privately funded scholarships and awards can make a measurable difference in their lives. Such support allows students to work less, study more, and participate in professional development programs, campus life, and community service--opportunities that contribute to a better prepared, better equipped California workforce. We are working hard to provide as many scholarship opportunities for our students as possible, and the support of our alumni and friends is crucial in these efforts.
