FAQ
Explain the collaboration between PMI & GPM on this course
The Project Management Institute (PMI), in partnership with Green Project Management (GPM), has joined forces to advance sustainability in project management. This collaboration aims to evolve the profession and empower project professionals to deliver projects that are both sustainable and regenerative. PMI now offers the GPM-b™ certification, allowing professionals to showcase their expertise in applying sustainable project management principles while effectively balancing business goals with environmental and social responsibility.
What does a sustainable project mean?
A sustainable project is more than meeting deadlines and budgets—it delivers lasting impact. It involves leading responsibly by integrating environmental care, social responsibility, and long-term economic success into every decision. For project managers, this means achieving results while fostering trust, strengthening stakeholder relationships, and contributing to a better future.
Instead of simply aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), our approach tackles the underlying causes of global sustainability challenges, driving meaningful, systemic change that addresses the very issues the SDGs were created to resolve.
What is the GPM P5 Standard for Sustainability in Project Management?
The GPM-b™ certification is grounded in the GPM P5 Standard for Sustainability in Project Management and the Sustainable Project Management: The GPM Practice Guide 3.0. The P5 Standard delivers practical guidance on which sustainability factors to measure and how to effectively integrate them into project activities. The Practice Guide complements this with a clear, iterative methodology designed specifically for managing projects that are sustainability-focused, regenerative, and environmentally responsible.
Maintenance and Renewal
The GPM-b certification is valid for five years and does not require ongoing maintenance or renewal. To maintain your certification beyond five years, you only need to retake the exam—repeating the course is not necessary.
