About the programme

Hydrogen’s Role in the Energy Transition delivers a multi-perspective understanding of the way in which Hydrogen will drive a carbon-neutral society by 2050.

You will explore the characteristics of hydrogen as a leading carbon-free candidate, together with the main actors in Hydrogen production, transport and storage and end-use application. You will also discover the technological, economic, regulatory and safety context as we look towards the future implementation of Hydrogen as a critical player in the global energy transition. Finally, you will go through two real-world cases from the hydrogen sector. In the first case, Home Power Solutions (HPS) – Picea, you will reflect and discuss about the drivers and barriers behind the use of hydrogen for residential heat, understand the technical aspects of HPS’s innovation, and apply aspects of hydrogen safety, regulation and policy incentives. In the second case, conducted with Waterstofnet and Colruyt Group, you will be asked to compare a hydrogen car and an EV from a financial, sustainability and user acceptance/ease of use point of view.

Hydrogen’s Role in the Energy Transition integrates the benefits of online and self-paced learning.

The online programme consists can be taken from your usual study location. Specifically, the online course consists of two online learning modules of five lessons each, which participants can follow at their own pace. Each lesson includes relevant reading materials. Some practice exercises are added and there will be online assessments to test your learning. In addition, the course includes case work on hydrogen applications and innovations.
